A programming language is a system of notation for describing computations. A useful programming language must therefore be suited for both description (i.e., for human writers and readers of programs) and for computation (i.e., for efficient implementation on computers). But human beings and computers are so different that it is difficult to find notational devices that are well suited to the capabilities of both.

EM Field Simulator
This is a great program that illustrates electrostatics, and would be quite useful for a introductory electromagnetism physics course. With this program, you can layout several charges and draw the electric force vectors anywhere, draw field lines, and draw equipotential lines. It uses MFC and OpenGL for the GUI components, and written in lightning fast C++ code.

- Be able to plot electric charges anywhere in an x-y plane.
- Charges are colored for easy identification. Blue charges are negative. Red charges are positive. Purple charges are neutral.
- Easily plot electric force vectors for a system of charges.
